3 BEDROOMS, 3200 SQ/FT
With a breathtaking view of the lake and of Mount Orford, this vacation home in the Eastern Townships of Quebec is a superb example of modern architecture. Designed by the architecture firm Nature Humaine, in collaboration with Creative Flats, the house draws inspiration from mid-century architect-designed homes, reinterpreted with a no-fuss contemporary touch.
A fusion of glass, wood, and concrete, the residence boasts an elongated yet simple silhouette, adorned with thin handmade Belgian bricks in a soft beige neutral palette creating a soothing atmosphere with tones of beige and gray.
The interior design features an abundance of wood, with cedar ceilings and wall paneling , and built-in furniture throughout.
Notably, the geometric shapes of the ceiling and its massive skylight take center stage.
Allowing natural light to flood the area and accentuate the interplay of forms.
The house boasts a fully glazed side, with large patio doors that dramatically frame the view of the lake. The presence of a majestic tree gracefully positioned by the windows captures nature's beauty within the architectural framework.
Sunsets are spectacular.
Designed to immerse guests in nature, the house is conveniently located near beautiful hiking trails, popular ski resorts, including Owl's Head (15 minutes away), Mt Orford (25 minutes away), and Jay Peak (1 hour away). Guests can also easily access the nearby towns of Eastman, Knowlton, and Magog.
The residence is a 15-minute drive from the Bolton Spa.
The St-Benoît-du-Lac Abbey is also nearby, offering a wide selection of artisanal products.

Rising out over the steep terrain with awe-inspiring views over the valleys and Mount Orford, this holiday home in Quebec’s Eastern Townships is an electrifying addition to the forested landscape.
Montreal based firm Nature Humaine, designed the home in two stacked, rectangular volumes that hug and cantilever out over the mountainside for an exhilarating sensation of floating among the trees.
Inspired by the classic gable roofed barns of the region, the strikingly simple silhouette has re-interpreted the rural venacular with a contemporary twist and a zen-like neutral palette in slate grey and steel, contrasting pale wood, and pure black accents. The home’s interiors are minimalist and spare, allowing the geometric forms and the spectacular framed views to take center stage.
Views of Mount Orford and the valley below are framed by a long horizontal strip window that also provides much of the natural lighting during the day. The kitchen and master bathroom are situated at the center of the residence, dividing the living spaces and master bedroom. A series of recessed lighting array the ceiling with multiple skylight openings to provide additional illumination.
Designed as an immersive experience, Nature Humaine created the project to influence your emotions and transform your interactions with the natural world.
